Common Diseases in Dwarf Hamsters

Hamsters are the little beasts that are there at the mercy of human beings who rear and up bring them for the sake of their fondness. People and, especially, children and young people like them as they are so small and so cute that they would adorn the room naturally without becoming a burden on their pockets as it does not eat much. Here the question arises - what do hamsters eat as pets?

Most people are interested in the information about the food of these pets. It is necessary as, without it, they will not be able to do anything substantial in keeping these animals. Two months ago, I thought of a plan to bring naturalness to my place. I bought a parrot and a male hamster.

Things went well in the beginning but then suddenly on one day; I found that the small animal was sneezing just like me. I had caught cold those days and I touched it recklessly again and again. It was a nuisance to the animal and it caught cold.

I, being the bigger body, could bear the attack of this disease but the hamster, being a small animal, fell seriously ill. I was so worried that I had to take it to the veterinarian. My hamster recovered in the next 2 weeks; I became pretty careful about the transfer of human germs to these animals. Now, I always wash my hands with an anti-bacterial soap before touching it.

After experiencing this disease, I have become careful about the hamstring's food and health. I consulted the doctor and came to know that a hamster may also be a diabetic. It may get cancer, diarrhea, skin illness, cancer, allergy and many other diseases just like human beings. It was shocking news for me and it made me even more careful about my dear pet in future.

I searched the World Wide Web and also found that the best available food for the animal may be seeds like sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, carrots, veggies lettuce, vegetables, and cheese and so on.

I also read about the home remedies for the normal ailments in this animal. One such hamster wet tail home remedy may be to get a syringe and start providing it with electrolytes so that it may not suffer from the acute conditions of diarrhea. This is a must and it is sure to bring positive results as far as the health of this little beast is concerned.

I consulted the veterinary physician and talked about the cure of the disease. The doctor told me to be very careful when touching it, especially, when I am suffering from some kind of illness. He advised me to keep aloof from the animal as much as possible during my ailment. It will keep the little pet healthy. Mostly, human beings are responsible for producing diseases in these animals.

Anyway, I am very careful when touching my cute pet now.  I would no more touch my hamster if I am ill.
